PHP

I began my career in software writing PHP code. I used to like it so much that I tried to use php for even non-web scripting. I actually improved much of my c skill set by writing a PHP module! Then came along python. I like python so much that I haven’t written any PHP code since. And now, after all these years, I have to write some PHP code again....

Sales

I want to learn to sell. I get this feeling that selling is perhaps the most important activity in any business. And by sell, I mean getting out there and meeting people and talking to them and probably persuading them. I haven’t, in my 30+ years of existence, ever initiated a conversation with a stranger. I usually take 1-2 days to even become comfortable talking professional stuff. It’s usually quite some time before I would engage in casual chats!...

‘Tax’ing

I had to file my taxes in India for the 1 month that I worked last FY. And my auditor wants a Form16 from the company. Dude, I quit the company about 1.5yrs back! Anyway, I am trying to reach out to them to see if I can get this sorted out quickly. I don’t know if there are other better tax services in India. I have heard of a few companies that claim to make it simple and straight forward....

Personality test

So I came across Myer Brigg’s type indicator test when I was reading something on Quora. The geek that I am, I had to try it out first. I haven’t read up about it yet, but I felt the need to write something I noticed. And so here it is. This test is sorta like a psychometry test. I was told, during interview days just after finishing engineering school, that these tests were used to identify your personality, whether you were clear in your head or some such stuff....

suit-up

Last friday was the first time I ever wore a jacket. Not that the situation demanded one, but I knew it wouldn’t look too odd if I did. I always loved to wear a jacket, but given that I spent most of my time in Chennai, just wearing a formal attire with leather shoe would make you like you are over-dressed for more occasions. Mostly the folks higher up in the value chain got away with the jackets and us engineer folks generally looked best in our dirty jeans and some stupid tee....

Persuasion..

If the mum is to be believed, A used to roll in the street pavement crying out loud. He always needed a car toy that the street vendor sold. But A had great ethics even as young as a 1yr old! He never asked for the same toy twice, and never asked for more than one toy. And A had already mastered persuasion by embarrassment – perhaps a sign of things to come?...

This week on tech #2

The last time I went running in Jurong, I was given an RFID tag and later on my timing was published on a website. I had some theories on how they could have done this until I landed this site recently. So if you plan to host a running, then you might want to read this link! And then I came across another link to build a IoT oscilloscope for $25....

This week on tech #1

This one is long due – More than a week. A small note and the links I stumbled upon and was delighted to know. I’ll update every week, hopefully. Ever wanted to code during a presentation and get it right in front of all the audience? Here’s what you may need! Because sometimes you need to do it live This was fun knowing and hope to use it some day when I host a code hackathon or code demo 🙂...

On Absurdity…

Strange as it may seem, I seem to have fun with absurdity. Everybody does, to some extent. But sometimes I have fun at somethings that don’t even catch the attention of my wife. To the extent she now believes I am a tad weird in this topic. For instance, a few of these one liners gets me to laugh every single time! Most people are immune to it after the second or third times!...

Spicing it up a little …

Starting this weekend, I plan to write one post every week. Oh, the one post a day plan is still on – but as you can see it is not quite there yet. But this weekly post is a slightly different idea – one that hopefully will help me connect back to my original intentions. You might be aware of my arduino daily. It is an automatically generated page from paper....
