bakkum baga baga baga

I never thought I’d ever say this of a Kamal Hassan movie: Uttama villain is a brave story. And I loved it. I think the last such movie was “Anbe Sivam”. That was a classic and I truly appreciated Kamal Hassan in that role: It was a brave story in multiple ways and had a truly appreciable philosophy backing it. TL;DR – Go watch Uttama Villain without expectations. You’ll love it....

Moov

After a period of absence, I am back to the writing board. Lot of things happening and I hope I would take some time to pen them here for future laughs. I am sure most of us have used a pain killer spray. There are a quite a few good brands out there and we usually stock one called “Moov”. We don’t use it very often, but sprays are handier than the ointment tubes....

Getting Lucky

I won some cookies in the office CNY lucky draw this year. Honestly, its an amazing thing to happen. I have tried to participate in lucky draws in many different stages of my life. And each time, my number would never be called out. Then I concluded that these are sour vine. Not for you. I had the same thoughts as I wrote my name in the lucky draw tag at office....

Shame

Sometimes it’s a shame to do some things. It’s a shame to not do anything about what is important to you. It’s a shame to feel helpless when what you love is snatched right from your hand and you don’t even raise an eyebrow. It’s a shame to let someone think you are at their mercy. And it’s a shame to believe that someone is in your mercy. At this point in time, I feel ashamed about myself....

Worth

Some people are not even worth getting pissed off at. Either they don’t know that they are doing it wrong or they are plain stupid to see what they are doing wrong. It gets downhill from there when such a person is also a top boss in the office. God save me. And my anger. It’s definitely not worth it. Not this guy definitely. You can get angry with someone who is reasonable....

Resemblances

Someone was asking a friend who his 1yr old resembled. Each of us had an opinion. But there is truly very little you can say at this point in the kid’s journey. For a long time everyone in the house believed I strongly resembled my maternal uncles and my maternal grandma. True that given my hair texture and general attitude. Similarly, for a long time everyone in the house believed that my sister resembled my paternal grandma....

Plants

We have a small balcony garden. We are looking to grow more stuff in these gardens in the coming months but we are also experimenting various things like pots, soil, water etc. Some of the easiest types of plants to grow include methi and coriander. These are commonly used in our kitchen so we decided to grow them ourselves to start. This works like a charm. And its beautiful and refreshing to see life coming out of a small pot....

Changes

Lantiq got acquired by Intel. It was in the news all over the business world. In some sense, it was the best that could happen. And Intel is the dream company for most people who studied electronics. It had been my dream too when I was just finishing bachelor’s.I am looking forward to working in Intel. I am fairly confident they’ll take me in. If I think about it, 2015 has been a fabulous year....

Take away for January

Read this post from Seth Godin. I found it profound and enlightening, even outside of the marketing paradigm that Seth talks about in. http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2015/01/your-mood-vs-your-reality.html In fact, this is completely in line with “The Secret”, another book that I’d recommend a read. I’ve never managed to read it through so far, though. http://finishonethingtoday.com As simple as that. Go finish one thing today.

Firing is not personal

but it is private. Perhaps, firing is not a politically correct word in the first place. Our jobs could be on the line for reasons that don’t include us. And we need to accept that as a fact first. I recently came across a post where someone was getting terminated and were pissed off at how they didn’t give them a proper reason for termination. Well, if you think about it, one of the lines in the employment contract would say that the company reserves the right to not give you any reason....
